Online conference between colleagues at Rasool Akram Hospital and Antwerp University Hospital

The Vice-Chancellor’s office for international affairs at Iran University of Medical Sciences facilitated the first online meeting between clinicians and scientists from two university hospitals in Iran and Belgium on June 23, 2020 with the primary objective of sharing experiences from managing Covid-19 patients.
Experts from the ICU, pulmonology, hemoncology and infectious disease departments at the two institutions shared their experiences in managing Covid-19 patients since the pandemic’s outbreak. Department heads shared protocols and statistics (admission and mortality rates) from the units under their supervision and early results / outcomes from any clinical trials with which they have been involved. Diagnostic criteria, treatment strategies and prophylactic options from the two medical institutions were discussed and compared.
The meeting was also attended by officials from the Belgian Embassy in Tehran and the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
The Vice-Chancellor for international affairs concluded the meeting by encouraging members from both institutions to feel free to reach out with any requests for facilitating joint research projects as well as student/faculty exchange programs between the two hospitals / universities.
 
This meeting was coordinated by the International Affairs office at Iran University of Medical Sciences in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
