A joint meeting holds to implement MoU between IUMS and Basra University

According to the Public Relations Office of Vice President for International Affairs, a meeting was held on May 31, 2021 to implement the previous Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) and Basra University from Iraq.

A high ranking Iraqi delegation from Basra University, including the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and the Dean of the School of Medicine along with IUMS officials, namely the Vice President for International Affairs, the Director of Development of International Affairs, the Director of Accreditation and Ranking, and the Deputy for Education at the International Campus, as well as the respective Deans from the Schools of Health Sciences attended the meeting.

Dr. Morteza Majid, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs from Basra University expressed his desire to implement the articles of the MOU, emphasizing that the University of Basra was recognized as the first ranking university in Iraq. He especially called for designing and launching joint training programs between the two universities. 

Then, Dr. Peyravi, the Dean of IUMS School of Nursing and Midwifery encouraged following up on the previously signed contract between the School of Nursing at Basra University, while Dr. Aghakhani, the Dean of IUMS School of Medicine announced that the School of Medicine was prepared to hold one-month online courses in physiopathology and internships, especially in the field of clinical toxicology for Iraqi medical students. 

The meeting concluded with Dr. Baradaran, IUMS Director for Development of International Affairs, asking all deciding parties at IUMS to make the necessary efforts and arrangements in order to hold the requested training courses as of September 2021.
