Meeting with the cultural attaché of the Italian Embassy in Iran to review and discuss collaborative projects

On Sunday, October 10, 2021, a meeting was held between representatives from the International Affairs Office at Iran University of Medical Sciences and Ms. Yaroslava Romanova, the Cultural Attache for the Italian Embassy in Iran.

In this meeting, Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei (Vice-President for International Affairs at IUMS) first provided a brief introduction about the University and discussed previous successful projects with Italian universities, including the South-South project which was conducted in cooperation with the UNFPA and the Italian government for educating Afghan girls in the fields of Nursing and Midwifery.

The discussion was then focused on potential collaborative projects in the future, especially in light of the recent change in IUMS leadership. It was noted that the University has recently further developed its International Affairs Office by allocating a separate office to the Iran-Italy Scientific Cooperation Chamber and appointing Dr. A Hazini as its Director.

The primary purpose of convening this meeting was to outline and address fundamental issues which will be discussed and decided upon at the official meeting in the presence of the University President, Dr. Abdolreza Pazouki, and Mr. Giuseppe Perrone, the honorable Italian Ambassador in Novermber 2021. The outcome from this meeting will then serve as the blueprint for collaborative projects (action plans) during the upcoming academic year (2021 – 2022).
