TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian researchers at Shiraz Medical Sciences University have synthesized a Nano-particle increasing resolution of MRI images.

The Nano-particles tested successfully in animal phase. It helps early diagnosis of cancers and small metastases.

Use of a contrast method which can diagnose cancer and small metastases in IMRI images is unavoidable due to different kinds of diseases. It can prove effectively in treating diseases.

Hossein Heli, the lead author of the study, said the aim of the research is investigating features of a Nano-particle with a biocompatible cover which can prove effectively in creating contrast in MRI images. Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles with dextrin cover investigated through chemical deposition method as a contrast factor.

Results of the study conducted on mice, deals with creating negative contrast in MRI images. Use of outcome of the study helps building these Nano-particles with less cost.

The small Nano-particles, 4 nanometers, can be used in molecular images as well.

Given the particles’ capacity in creating acceptable contrast and small dimensions of the particles, it is possible to diagnose small metastases and metastasis in lymph nodes, the researcher said, adding the achievement helps early diagnosis of cancer and improves people’s life quality.

The results of the study have been published in Colloids and surfaces B: Biointerfaces-Journal.
